District 33 Supervision Records

VADOC Probation and Parole District 33 is based in Warsaw. The official directory says it serves Essex, Lancaster, Northumberland, Richmond, and Westmoreland Counties. Essex residents therefore report to a regional office outside the county. This is District 33, not Alexandria District 36. The office number matters because a wrong district can lead to a false assumption that no supervision exists.

District 33 administers community supervision. It does not operate a custody roster, book people into jail, or issue the MPRSC release sheet. A person may arrive under probation ordered by a court, parole authorized for an eligible sentence, post-release supervision, or another VADOC community status. The statewide locator and the conditions document establish that relationship more directly than a local jail roster.

Verify District 33 Status

Begin with the VADOC Inmate and Supervisee Locator. It accepts the first three letters of the first name with the full last name, or a seven-digit DOC ID. Optional filters include location, race, gender, and age. Its scope includes VADOC institutions, probationers and parolees under community supervision, institutional hospitals, some people in local or regional jails under VADOC authority, and CCAP.

1. Search by DOC ID when it is known. Otherwise use the required name form and only accurate filters.
2. Open the matched record and note the exact status, location, date, and supervision labels displayed.
3. Check whether District 33 or another reporting office is named. A regional assignment may change after a move.
4. Contact District 33 for reporting-office information and the public supervision details it can provide.
5. Use the releasing jail, prison, or court record to establish the actual release event.

VADOC says the locator is updated daily and may be inaccurate or outdated. A search result is therefore a lead that should be verified when timing or current reporting status matters. Absence may reflect scope, spelling, a data delay, or the end of the covered record. It is not proof that the person was never supervised.

District 33 Contact Details

The Warsaw office is the official Essex supervision contact. Staff may verify the reporting office and available status information within disclosure limits. Provide the person's name, DOC ID when known, and enough facts to avoid a mistaken identity. Do not ask the office to supply an MPRSC release time or a federal custody history, since those records belong elsewhere.

The office's regional role is also useful when someone moves within the Northern Neck or Middle Peninsula area. A reporting assignment may be transferred to another district, but that administrative change is not the same as discharge. Confirm the new office before concluding that supervision ended.

Probation and Parole Differ

Probation is supervision imposed by a court. It may follow a jail or prison term, accompany suspended time, or occur without a prison stay. Parole is conditional release for a person whose sentence is legally eligible. Virginia abolished discretionary parole for many felony offenses covered by section 53.1-165.1, though older or otherwise eligible sentences can still fall under section 53.1-151. District 33 may supervise both groups, but their legal sources differ.

Post-release supervision is another term that may appear in a sentence or VADOC record. It describes required supervision after confinement under the governing order. “Discharge” means the named custody or supervision obligation has ended. It should not be inferred just because a name no longer appears under a prior office.

Probation

Court-ordered community supervision, often tied to suspended time and stated conditions.

Parole

Conditional community release available only under the sentence's governing law.

Absconder

A person alleged to have stopped reporting or left supervision without authorization.

Violation

An alleged breach of a supervision condition, resolved through the lawful process.

Release and Supervision Evidence

Three records may be needed for one Essex case. The releasing custodian documents the actual exit. The court record supplies the legal order and sentence. District 33 or VADOC documents the community-supervision assignment and later discharge. A person released from MPRSC may be on probation without ever becoming a VADOC prison inmate. Another person may leave a VADOC institution and report to District 33 on parole or post-release supervision.

A District 33 name or assignment does not establish where the person slept the night before supervision began. It also does not prove that every local, federal, or immigration hold ended. If MPRSC transferred someone to ICE, for example, that local release is not a community release. If a VADOC institution released someone to a detainer, the state departure and the receiving custody both need confirmation.

District 33 Records Requests

For an existing VADOC supervision or discharge record, send a focused request to VADOC rather than asking District 33 to build a narrative. Include the person's full name, DOC ID, date range, and the specific record sought, such as conditions of probation, conditions of parole, assignment record, or discharge document. Protected inmate, probation, investigation, medical, and criminal-history details may be withheld or redacted.

VADOC also provides personal-record procedures and authorization forms. Those may be the correct path when the person consents to release of information. A Virginia FOIA request can seek existing public portions, but it does not require the agency to create a custom chronology or disclose material protected by law.

Essex Reentry Connections

The District 33 resource directory identifies the Upper Middle Peninsula Reentry Council. That regional context matters because Essex supervision is not organized around an Essex-only field office. Resources and reporting may span several counties. A historical Northern Neck program also served Essex residents released from MPRSC, but that older evaluation is not proof of a current enrollment route.

Property and release-day needs remain with the releasing facility. MPRSC permits authorized property pickup under its stated policy, while VADOC facility-release rules address state-prison property, funds, medicine, and transportation. District 33 Status Changes

Supervision can change without a new jail release. A person may move to another VADOC district, complete the term, face an alleged violation, or return to custody under a court or board process. A former District 33 assignment therefore remains part of the history even when the current locator names another office. Ask for the effective date of an assignment or discharge record when timing matters.

An alleged absconder or violation status should not be inferred from a failed search. No official statewide VADOC absconder directory was verified in the research. Current warrant or violation questions belong with the supervising office, court, or other authorized source. Use precise language and distinguish an allegation from a final finding.

The Virginia Parole Board and VADOC also have different roles. The Board handles parole decisions for eligible cases, while VADOC administers field supervision through offices such as District 33. A board decision can authorize parole, but the prison release record proves the completed custody exit. District 33 records then document reporting and supervision. Keeping those stages separate gives an Essex inquiry a clear chain from decision to release to community status.

District 33 Court Links

Essex court records can explain probation terms, suspended time, and later violations. General District and Circuit matters use separate search systems, and public Juvenile and Domestic Relations case information is not online. A court disposition can support why supervision began, but the VADOC record remains the direct source for the assigned district and formal discharge.

Final Essex Circuit orders are sent to DOC and Probation and Parole. That connection helps explain why a court change may later appear in a VADOC computation or supervision record.
